Hakaiju is a third person action game where YOU are the giant Kaiju rampaging through the city. You will need to fight off waves of military opposition while destroying as much of the city as you can! Fill the Destruction Meter to 100% or die trying.

This game made in 2 weeks for the Kaiju Jam II 2023.

**CREATOR'S NOTE**: HAKAIJU WORKS BEST WHEN YOU DOWNLOAD IT TO YOUR COMPUTER. The WebGL version is functional but has a noticeable performance drop.

HOW TO PLAY

Gather experience points by destroying the city and military units.

Once your experience meter is full, you’ll be prompted to level up! You can spend your level up point on your Toughness, Destruction, or Agility stats, each of which will grant different stat buffs to your Kaiju.

At specific levels, you’ll earn brand new abilities regardless of which stats you’ve already buffed. Explore the Stats screen from the pause menu for more details!

Move with WASD or the left analog stick of your controller.  Move the camera with your mouse or the right analog stick of your controller.

Incredible game! Such a fund idea and great execution. I just wish the sensitivity on a controller was like doubled. It is so low compared to the mouse. Besides that great work!

why arent we funding this?!

Indeed, I would pay for a decently sized game out of this! I want a physic based, destructive monster game...

There is one called Excidio the Kaiju Simulator on Steam!

Oh! Nice! From the few seconds I've seen so far, it looks cool! Thanks for informing me, comrade!

It was exhilarating and fun to actually become Kaijuu like Godzilla and destroy the city.

The game was fun because you learn more and more attack skills as you level up, so the game never became monotonous. The Atomic Breath is especially cool and fun to use!

I do love me giant monster games! Even though they make me crave a sequel to "War of the Monsters" or a actually good triple A giant monster game... I just want to smash things and enjoy the spectacle of buildings falling over, the destruction of everything, along with hundreds, if not thousands of military soldiers, tanks, helicopters, etc trying to stop me.

Would be cool if there was another giant monster game just like War of the Monsters but maybe with things like the military siding with certain monsters?... Welp, I am going way too off track now! There isn't much for me to criticize for a game jam game, besides the lack of graphic options and me craving more DESTRUCTION! Would be super neat if there was little humans running around that we could squish! Just like in War of the Monsters...

Ummm, anyways! This is a great game! I am always impressed about what devs can make in such a short amount of time!

Thank you for the feedback. Glad you liked it!

Originally we wanted to make a Kaiju fighting game but that would have been ambitious. Regarding more destruction, that is something we hope to implement after the jam's voting period ends. Will be adding final 3D assets for buildings and perhaps for the windows build we can add people as well.

I watched your video and added support for fullscreen. The newest build should load in fullscreen and if not you can use "Alt+Enter" to toggle it. Enjoy!

Oh~? Great! War of the Monsters is the only game I know that had people in it that you can squish between your monster's feet or from your monster's attacks. That game, even though it is a ps2 game, still is my top most favorite monster game of all time. Although not sure if that is nostalgia talking :P

I am not sure how much you would be willing add to "finalize" the game, but 2d or super simple 3d people would be nice along with more details for overall destruction. The game also feels very easy too, I am unsure what you can add to make things harder. Maybe a option to adjust how many military units spawns would help with difficulty? Or something? Or new enemy types! Or maybe... powerful turrets or something?

In any case, I'll definitely play this game again once everything is finished and done for your game here!
